Spooky Halloween on the Isle of Wight
As the evenings draw in and Halloween approaches, the island is preparing for another half-term filled with spooky events and activities on what has become known as the Isle of Fright.
The island has a well-documented reputation for ghostly goings on, it has been named in the top 10 most haunted islands by paranormal experts.
So head on over to the Isle of Wight this half term and you will be guaranteed a range of family friendly events that will entertain, scare and amuse the whole family.
The Lakes Rookley
With thoughts of summer holidays having faded and the autumn chill arriving, Halloween at The Lakes Rookley on the Isle of Wight is a fun-filled time of year for kids and families alike.

Halloween Fright Night at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway
Sat 27th October
Dare you ride the Train of Fright?
A truly unique Halloween Fright Night Experience. Dress-up as witches, wizards and ghouls, or don your best Bride of Dracula or Beetlejuice costume. Lurk menacingly on the platform, then take our ‘ghost train’ through the Island’s deserted night time countryside, passing darkened woodland and desolate fields.
Wizard Week at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway
Mon 22nd – Fri 26th October
Be amazed at the magic shows, enjoy relaxing steam train rides, and tread cautiously through the enchanting Woodland Walk. Meet the friendly witches of Havenstreet and help them with their magic spells and potions. Dress-up as wizards, witches and other spooky characters – there’s prizes each day for the best costumes
Carisbrooke Spooky Castle
Sat 20th – Sun 28th October
Feeling brave enough to take on the island's haunted castle?
Prepare to be scared on their spooky Halloween adventure for families and kids. Create your own terrifying Halloween crafts. Wander the grounds with the Victorian ghost hunters as they tell you macabre tales of times gone by. Don't forget to pass by the graveyard and discover how its occupants met a gruesome demise. A prize awaits in the Halloween costume competition, bestowed for the most spine-tingling attire each day.

Tapnell Farm will be celebrating the spookiest time of year with a whole host of treats for your little monsters.
Everyday activities include Bugs and Beasties Encounters, Themed Arts & Crafts and a Witches Treasure Hunt. There will also be special visits from IOW Bat Hospital, Haven Falconry and more.
Plus pick your own pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch between Thursday 26th and Sunday 29th.
Wicked Nights at Blackgang Chine
20th Oct – 3rd Nov
Wicked Nights is a brand-new horror event, coming to the Isle of Wight, making its home at Blackgang Chine. Demolition site, The Cursed Mill, will be opening its doors every evening, from the 20th October to 3rd November, from 6pm – 10pm… should you be courageous enough to brave the curse.
This high intensity experience includes The Cursed Mill: A Terrifying Tour, a hair-raising, blood curdling experience that will leave you full of fright - it's not for the faint hearted. You'll join a 'Live Action' tour through the demolition site, designed to terrify unexpecting guests… will you brave the curse? Expect sudden loud noises, strobe lighting, audio and visual effects.
