Stretches of sand
Crantock beach is only a 20 minute drive from Newquay Bay Resort. Beautiful sand dunes are dotted around ideal for little ones to explore. With the River Gannel flowing through the beach, it’s a whole new level of picturesque! Or a little closer to Bude Holiday Resort, you can walk to Crooklets beach and admire the wide stretches of sand. It’s the perfect place for your pooch to race around, roll in the sand, and splash in the waves. If you’re someone who likes the action, Watergate Bay attracts surfers from all around the world! It’s only 15 minute drive from Retallack Resort & Spa too. Sit on the sand and watch them glide along the water. Or if you’re a keen surfer yourself, grab a board and dash into the waves. If you’re at our Newperran Holiday Resort, Perranporth beach is only a 10 minute drive. Spread out on the soft sand. See the ocean disappear into the distance. With the beach being so long, you’ll feel like you have the whole thing to yourself!
Get out & about
Looking for a scenic place to spend the day pottering around and sightseeing? Padstow will have you charmed in no time. The little harbour town has boats of all shapes and sizes. You can get involved in activities from wildlife spotting to angling or just messing about on the water! There are a number of historic sights to see around Cornwall too (if that’s your cup of tea!). Tintagel Castle will get you stuck into the history and myths on the rugged coast, perfect for families of all ages.

It’s small but perfectly formed, so grab a bike and cycle your way around all the sights this lovely island has to offer! There are coastal and countryside paths to follow. Or if you’re not sure about what sights to start with, there are plenty of cycling tours to join. We’ve even partnered with Wight Cycle Hire so you can get a bike delivered to you on resort when you need it! Instead of staying on land, try pushing your limits out at sea… Give a sailing school a crack! Lessons for both adults and children can get the family out together for a bob on the waves. The island is full of activities, whatever you’re into, to make the most of your bank holiday weekend away!
If you’re looking for a place to do a bit of shopping, lounge for a quick coffee, or while away a couple of hours meandering, there’s towns dotted all over the island for you to explore. You won’t be short of something to do in Shanklin Town. From the long sandy beach, perfect for little ones to put their bucket and spades to use to the Old Village with its independent shops, restaurants and pubs, on the east coast of the island. Head to the north side of the island and you’ll find Cowes, which has a little more hustle and bustle going on. Known for the oldest and biggest sailing regatta in the world, it’s the number one destination for any budding sailors!
North Yorkshire is filled with Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and national parks. We’d be selfish if we didn’t share them with you! Kirkham Priory and the River Derwent is an AONB walk that’ll take your breath away. Get ready with your phone to snap away capturing those Insta-worthy pics! Take your four-legged friend along and make a day of it. They’ll love splashing around in the river while you find a log to perch on and rest your feet. Or for a coastal walk, Robin Hoods Bay is in a North York Moors National Park, get your fill of boats drawn up on the rocks, rugged cliffs hugging the sand and pieces of history along the way.

With the UK’s most visited zoo only a 45 minute drive away from The Bay Filey, you can’t give it a miss! Get your energy pumping on the theme park rides or get up close to a heap load of animals, it’s a treat for little ones and your not so little ones! If you want something a little sportier with a relaxed atmosphere (maybe some alone time!), take your pick from a number of golf courses with sea views. But don’t take your eye off the ball!
