Local Flow Riders stole the show at the recent Cornwall stop of the European Flow Tour, hosted by Retallack Resort and Spa.
Part of the Aria Resorts family, Retallack Resort and Spa are home to the only continuous wave simulator, which is open year-round for the general public to enjoy.
The contest which took place on Saturday 27th July was one of only four European dates on the calendar, and attracted some of the best surf simulator riders in the UK to Cornwall, along with tour followers and spectators.
The thriving event was a great success and was well attended by local participants and spectators.
Leisure Manager Sarah Withers said:
“The Flow Tour Cornwall Stop was a fantastic day and there was a great atmosphere amongst the people watching and cheering on the local entries from our Lookout eatery and outside seating area, which has spectacular views of all the exhilarating action.”
The Championship Event offers a variety of categories to competitors, with riders in 1st tour positions, of qualifying divisions, going forward to represent Team Europe in the World Championships.
“We were so proud of our local riders who gained a medal in every, single category that was represented on the day. The guys put in a lot of practice and the results show that it has really paid off.”
Local riders Jack Bree and Callum Bate both took home firsts in the Adult Bodyboard and Adult Flowboard categories; with Charlie Austin claiming a double first in the Junior Flowboard and Bodyboard categories and a fourth in the Adult Flowboard contest.
“The FlowRider is one of our most popular attractions and we get people of all ages giving it a go. The sessions are run by experienced instructors who guide novices until they are confidently riding the continuous wave and even trying a few tricks themselves!”
