Being an island there is an abundance of beaches to keep the kids happy, added by the fact that half of the island has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, means that adventures inland will be rewarded with cutesy villages and outdoor fun such as riding, hiking and cycling on minor roads and lanes, grassy tracks and bridleways.
It is no surprise that the Isle of Wight is as popular as ever. The sunny island with its charming villages, sweeping sandy shores, white cliffs and yachting scene is still the perfect location for a big family holiday or weekend break.
In some respects, time has stood still on the Isle of Wight, with Victorian promenades, amusement parks, museums, animal parks, farms galore and simple pleasures such as crabbing to be had, the Isle of Wight is a firm favourite for the traditional seaside family holiday.

The Isle of Wight is famous for its beautiful beaches and seafront promenades, such as sandy Shanklin Beach and south-facing Ventnor Beach, which is dotted with vintage beach huts. Dinosaur remains and fossils can be seen in areas like Compton Bay and Yaverland Beach. On the island’s western point, The Needles are 3 huge, white chalk rocks, guarded by a 19th-century lighthouse.
It is easy to see why the Isle of Wight is still seen as one of the best UK destinations for a family holiday.
