Experience the beauty of Cornwall

Cornwall is an idyllic summer holiday destination at the southwesternmost tip of the mainland UK. This beautiful county is surrounded by clear blue waters, with a long and winding coastline, punctuated by secret coves and sandy bays. If you're looking for a beach holiday, you can't go wrong with the great Cornish weather and rugged cliffs that shelter holidaymakers on the sand below. The North coast of Cornwall is perfect for finding sheltered sunny spots to sunbathe and enjoy a dip in the sea, as prevailing winds blow from the southwest.

If you're looking for activity holidays in Cornwall or you'd like to experience a truly unique visitor attraction, there's nowhere better to stay than Retallack Resort. The onsite watersports make this a family-friendly destination with plenty of group activities. There's Cornwall's only standing wave FlowRider and the thrilling Wake Park, where you can be pulled across the water at speed, hanging from a high wire. Why not try out Double Zorbs and SUP boarding with a friend? After some frenetic watersports, you can relax with a treatment at ESYA Spa while your children play at the popular crèche. To make the most of the holiday, you need to experience the Eden Project's incredible biodomes, which are just a 26 minute drive from the resort.

Perhaps watersports aren't your thing and you're more of a camping holiday family? Just a short drive from the incredible collection of sandy beaches at Newquay lies the holiday park at Newperran. You can camp in a tent, tow along a caravan, drive up in a campervan or even stay in the onsite Towan holiday caravans, with well-equipped kitchens and comfortable beds. There's still opportunity for splashing around, with a swimming pool on site, next to the adventure playground, skate park and pub.

What should I know about Cornwall?

How do I get to Cornwall?

You can take a direct flight to Newquay in Cornwall from airports across the UK - Birmingham, Aberdeen, Belfast and Doncaster all have regular flights. If you're further afield, there are also routes between Newquay and Portugal (Faro), Spain (Alicante) and multiple airports in Germany. From Newquay Airport, it's just 12 minutes to Retallack Resort or 25 minutes to Newperran Holiday Park.

If you're planning to take public transport, there's a train terminal at Newquay airport and stops all the way down to Penzance at the tip of the peninsula. The county is surprisingly well-connected by rail, though there are only 2 stations on the North coast; St Ives and Newquay.

How big is Cornwall?

While many Brits think of Cornwall as the tip of the Southwest peninsula, it's actually a sizeable county, measuring about 80 miles from the border with Devon to the point at Land's End. At 1375sq mi, it's 9 times the size of our other destination; the Isle of Wight!

The county is bordered by beautiful coastline, with the Southwest Coast Path, perfect for walking holidays. Inland lie many smaller attractions, well worth the trip, including the world-famous Eden Project and the many tin mines that used to be a hub of industrial activity.

Where should I stay in Cornwall?

For a truly memorable experience, it's worth spending some time at Retallack Resort, or even visiting for the day. The incredible array of watersports, including Cornwall's only standing wave FlowRider make for a truly exciting day out.
